How to Style Blue & White Tulipieres

Blue and White Porcelain Tulipiere Vase

If you've ever wondered what those beautiful blue and white vases with all the little openings are called, they're called tulipieres—and they're one of our favorite decorative pieces.

Originally designed to display tulips, tulipieres have been around for centuries, but somehow they still feel fresh.  I personally think it's because they look just as beautiful with flowers as they do sitting empty on a shelf.

I've always been especially partial to blue and white chinoiserie tulipieres. There's just something about blue and white porcelain that never seems to go out of style. It works in traditional homes, modern homes, colorful homes, neutral homes—you really can't go wrong.

The other thing I love? They're surprisingly easy to style.

You don't need a florist-worthy arrangement.  I just cut a few camellia stems from the yard, or use grocery store flowers, fresh greenery, or even a handful of seasonal blooms can look beautiful tucked into the individual openings. The tulipiere does most of the work for you.

And when flowers aren't in season, they still look great on their own. We love them on dining tables, kitchen counters, bookshelves, and entry consoles where they add a little height, color, and personality.

It's one of those pieces that people always seem to notice and ask about. Part vase, part decorative object, part conversation starter.

If you've been looking for a way to add a touch of classic blue and white charm to your home, a tulipiere is a pretty good place to start.
